Weather Forecast For 17 th October 2016

Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ, the low pressure zone where the Northern and Southern hemispheric winds meet), is affecting the weather over the island. Hence showery weather with lightning activity can be expected, especially during the afternoon and night.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at most parts of the islandafter 2.00 p.m.

Showers will occur in Western province and in the Galle and Matara districts in the morning too.

Fairly heavy falls (about 75-100 mm) are also likely at some places.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
