A Special Week to Discard Polythene, Plastic & Electronic Waste Commence Today

A week to discard polythene, plastic and electronic waste will commence today (24).

The programme is being implemented by the Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment under the directives of President Maithripala Sirisena.

Under the programme non usable plastic, polythene and electronic waste will be collected.  The programme will be in effect till the 30th of October.

A national programme for the disposal of electronic waste was organised in September.

Under the programme electronic waste such as defunct mobile phones, computer hardware and televisions were collected.
