Special Traffic Arrangements for Pandit Amaradeva’s Funeral

A new traffic plan would be in place in and around the Independence Square from 7 am today, in view of the funeral of Pandit W.D. Amaradeva.

No vehicle would be allowed to enter Independence Square through Independence Avenue from 7 am today(5).

Only permitted vehicles would be allowed to enter the area through Independence Avenue and motorists are advised to use alternative routes today as heavy traffic may be expected on roads in the vicinity of Independence Square.

Traffic Police have already earmarked several car parks for vehicles: They are Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha, Reid Avenue, Gregory’s Road, FR Senanayake Mawatha, Maitland Place, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Grounds, Arcade, Sri Lanka Foundation Road, Race Course car park, Malalasekera Mawatha, Torrington Avenue and opposite CR and FC grounds.
