Assault complaint against SC Judge handed over to CID

 

It is reported that the investigations on alleged assault complaint against Supreme Court Judge Sarath De Abrew, has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

A complaint lodged by a woman stating that she had been allegedly assaulted by Supreme Court Judge Sarath De Abrew was reported to the Mt Lavinia Magistrate’s Court, the Police said yesterday (29).

Reportedly, she was referred to the Kalubowila Hospital and receiving treatment in Ward 11.

The woman who claims to be a house maid at the Supreme Court Judge’s residence lodged a complaint with the Mount Lavinia Police on Saturday night stating that she had been assaulted on her head with the official pistol of the Judge.

The complainant also stated that she had started work at the Judge’s residence on June 15 and ever since she had been detained in the house. She also stated that a child with down syndrome in the house brutally assault her regularly while the Judge used to watch. She also stated that she often experienced pistol whips from the Judge.
