JVP Demands to Release Hambantota Port Sale Agreement
JVP has written a letter to the President Maithripala Sirisena against the decision taken by the Government to sell Hambantota Port and demanded to release Hambantota Port sale agreement .
Letter reads :-
‘’ An agreement reported to have been signed by the Prime Minister to grant ownership of Hambantota Port to a Chinese company for 99 years effective from 7th January 2017. In the interest of the public we register our protest against selling of Srilankan assets and condemn it. There is no doubt that this will be a challenge not only to the economy of the country but also too national security . Hence, we request your excellency to intervene in this matter and find a solution for it’’ . Letter concluded.
