Cleaning of Trains Tender Awarded to Highest Bidder at 93 lakhs Per Month

Railway Department has called for tenders to clean  trains  at  Maligawatta Yard for 24 months (two years)  .  In response,   tenders were  submitted by prospective tenderers .  Lowest tender was at Rs 30 lakhs per month  and the highest tender was at 93 lakhs per month. Joint Front of railway  unions  alleged that the authorities have decided to offer that tender to the highest bidder  at 93 lakhs per month. Accordingly , for 24 months  (two years) it will cost  the railway  department   Rs 2,232 lakhs. Joint unions  had already  brought this matter notice to  the President Maithripala Siresens.
