Contradiction Among Government Members in Inviting Foreign Judges

Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera is on a tour to London. He addressed  a meeting in London acknowledging  that there is  difference of  opinions among Government parliamentarian in inviting foreign Judges  to serve in domestic  inquiry mechanism to be established   to  inquire into war crimes and Human Rights violations in Srilanka. However, as mentioned in Maithri’s  election manifesto, an independent inquiry mechanism will be set up soon.   Having  considered  the sovereignty of the country and democratic principal adopted by the Government,  consultation need to be made with the people concerned  before setting up such mechanism, he concluded.
