Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen has yesterday (17) sent order No: 42 to the Government Printer to gazette Maximum retail Price (MRP) for imported as well as locally produced rice varieties. Accordingly maximum retail price for variety or rice are given below:

Locally produced Nadu ……………………………………………………………. Rs 80 per kilo
Imported Raw (Kekulu)…………………………………………………………….. Rs 70 per kilo (Unchanged)
Locally produced Raw (Kekulu) …………………………………………………..Rs 78 per kilo
Imported Samba(Excluding Keeri Samba & Suduru Samba)…………… Rs 80 per kilo (Unchanged)
Locally produced Samba(Excluding Keeri Samba & Suduru Samba)….Rs 90 per kilo
Minister Rishad Bathiudeen has confirmed more rice imports arrival thus ending the rice crisis in the country. Consumers are requested to call on hot line Tel.1977 to complain any rice sale by traders over the Maximun Retail Price for rice gazetted. Two hundred and fifty (250) officers of the CAA are detailed to monitor rice traders across the country.
