52 Traders Nabbed in Consumer Protection Authority’s 137 Raids

On receipt  of complaints  received from  consumers,  Consumer  Protection Authority has raided 137 trade centres yesterday(20). The trade centres  include 13 from Colombo, 12 from Kandy , 10 from Kurunagala , 8 from  Anuradhapura, 7 from Vavuniya , Pollannaruwa  and Kegalle 6 . Concerned  traders were nabbed.
In the best interest of  consumers, Minister of Industry and Commerce  Rishad Bathiudeen has instructed   Consumer  Protection Authority officers  to carry out more raids even on holidays, Saturday, Sunday and Poya days.  He has requested traders to separate  local rice from imported rice  and clearly display  the prices  mentioning the verities of rice for easy identification by consumers.
