President Maithripala Sirisena will forward the proposed name of the next Chief Justice to the Constitutional Council today (27).
The current Chief Justice, K. Sripavan was the 43rd Chief Justice of Sri Lanka. He is to retire on 28 February 2017 .
Justice Sripavan was previously the Deputy Solicitor General, a Judge, President of Court of Appeal and Puisne Justice of the Supreme Court before being appointed Chief Justice on 30 January 2015. He was educated at Hindu College, Jaffna from 1962 to 1972. He joined the Sri Lanka Law College in 1974 and passed out as an Attorney-at-law in 1976.
