JO Left Alone to Contest LG Election Without SLFP

 In  response  to a question by a  journalist  regarding President Maithripala Sirisena’s  invitation to  all SLFP Members now in Government and the Opposition that they were eligible to contest the Local Government Polls in collaboration with the SLFP,  Chairman of the Podujana Peramuna Prof. G.L said, the Joint Opposition will be contesting the forthcoming Local Government Elections on its own and will not be in truck with the SLFP.

We will be contesting on our own under the Lotus Flower Bud symbol. We are gearing up for the Local Government Elections with enthusiasm.

He also said that they will be seeking the cooperation of the other political parties which are a part of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA).

He revealed this while  participating  in the formation of the new party offices in the Districts of Kandy, Matale and Badulla during the last weekend.
