Meethotamulla Garbage Dump Collapsed

A section of the Meethotamulla garbage dump has reportedly collapsed, completely destroying several nearby houses and damaging others in the vicinity.   At least 6 persons were reportedly admitted to the National Hospital following the incident which had occurred at around 3.00pm today (14). President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed the tri-forces and the Disaster Management Minister to take all possible action to help the people affected by the incident.  The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) said,  that a Bell 212 helicopter with Bambi bucket has been deployed to assist in fighting the fire which has broken out at the Meethotamulla garbage dump.
