Minister of Health, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne stated in the Parliament that cultivation of Tobacco will be banned by the year 2020.
He said this in Parliament in response to a question raised by Member of Parliament (MP) Buddhika Pathirana during parliamentary proceedings today (07).
He further said, that the government had already taken many steps to minimize the use of tobacco and narcotics in Sri Lanka.
In addition the individual sale of cigarettes and the sale of cigarettes in stores near schools would be banned in near future.
