PC Election Possible Only After October

While attending a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday,  Elections Commissioner,  Mahinda Deshapriya stated, that the terms of the North Central, Eastern and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councils end in September this year. According to the elections act, the gazette notification on the announcement of elections must be released within 7 days following the end of the provincial council term.

Hence, the gazette notification on the announcement of PC  elections will be released  on the 2nd of October 2017, he added.
