Liyanage to be the Governor of Eastern Provincial Council

Business magnate cum current Srilanka Ambassador to Qatar is tipped to be appointed as the Governor of Eastern Province in place of Austin Fernando, who resigned recently to assume duty as the Secretary to the President. He came down to Srilanka yesterday (2) to meet the President.

Earlier, he said that originally President wanted to appoint him as a Governor, but there was no vacancy at that time. Now the time has come for him to assume duty as the Governor, he said.
