Garbage Policy Petition Against Govt. Deferred

 A petition was  filed by the Environment Justice Centre (EJC) pointed out, that due to the failure of the Government to formulate a national garbage disposal policy, a crisis situation had emerged here in the wake of the Meethotamulla tragedy and they have moved the Court to order the Government to formulate the policy to address issue.

Petitioners has cited the President, Central Environmental Authority (CEA) and the CMC as respondents.

The lawyers for the respondents requested the Court that they need sufficient time to submit their answers and the Court had put off the case to 9 August.
