An anti corruption secretariat was formed in January 2016 to probe large scale corruption, fraud etc. committed allegedly by the previous regime. This secretariat which was formed originally for 12 months period was subsequently extended by a further six-months in January.
Its’ term expired on 30 June. A special report is expected to be submitted to the Cabinet on the work carried out by the Secretariat over past one and a half years.
After considering all relevant facts, a final decision will be taken during the Cabinet meeting to be held today, government sources revealed.
