Defence summit under the caption “Countering Violent Extremism Global Trends” was ceremoniously inaugurated by the President Maithripala Sirisena in Colombo yesterday (28). Representatives from 35 countries participated in the opening ceremony.
Apart from this 200 soldiers from foreign countries and 600 soldiers from Srilanka too participated in this summit, which is continuing today (29) in Colombo .
Army Media Spokesperson Brigadier Roshan Seneviratne said, over 800 individuals are scheduled to participate in today’s Defence Summit , which is organized by the Sri Lanka Army for the 8th consecutive year.
Today’s Summit will be under the “Countering Violent Extremism: Global Trends” .
President Maithripala Sirisena is set to grace the summit as the Chief Guest today (28).
