Weather Forecast For 31st August 2017

Showery condition over the country is expected to enhance during next few days, particularly from 01st to 02nd September (particularly in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva and Southern provinces). Heavy falls (about 100mm) are also expected at some places.

Today: Showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m., fairly heavy falls (about 50mm) are also expected at some places.

Showers may occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Matara and Jaffna districts during the morning too.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.

On the apparent southward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during 27th of August and 06th of September in this year. The nearest towns of Sri Lanka over which the sun is almost overhead today (31st) are Karuwalakuda, Ittikulama, Nuwarawewa, Migahadigiliya, Kantale and Ilankaiturai about 12.11 noon.
