Discussion Between Sri Lanka Medical Council & AG’s Dept.

The Sri Lanka Medical Council has decided to call a special discussion with the Attorney Generals Department.
The SLMC accordingly decided to submit a written request calling for the relevant discussion to be held under the patronage of the Secretary of the Ministry of Health.
The discussion is expected to focus on the power granted to the SLMC under the Medical Council Act over international universities.
The Spokesman said the committee on minimum standards for medical education yesterday discussed and arrived at a decision.
In the meantime the SLMC agreed to seek legal advice on concerns in the report submitted to the SLMC by the Attorney General’s Department, containing recommendations on minimum standards for the Malabe private medical university.The SLMC also called for the gazette notification pertaining to minimum standards for private medical universities to be issued promptly.
