Weerawansa’s  Statement  A Serious Threat to Parliament  – Speaker

Speaker Karu Jeyasuriya said, that theHouse  will take appropriate action,  when it meets on 30^th October with regard to a remark  made by NFF Leader Wimal Weerawansa that Parliament should be bombed,  if a new constitution is adopted  with a two third majority.

Jeyasuriya expressed his surprise on  such a statement made by an MP, which is a serious threat to Parliamentary democracy and to the lives of people’s representatives.  Concerned Opposition MPs, Buddhists monks have made inquires from him and both Government and opposition Mps and other parties have asked him to pay strong  attention to it, he concluded.
