Bandula Prefers Arrest of Paskaralingam to Gothabaya

MP Bandula Gunawardane while addressing a Joint Opposition media briefing in Colombo yesterday, said the present government is attempting to arrest Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to satisfy the needs of LTTE diaspora, but makes no attempt to arrest officers, who took decisions regarding LTTE during the same time period. The Joint Opposition strongly condemns the attempt to arrest Gothabaya, Gunawardane said. This arrest attempt is being made to distract the attention of the public against the UNP on Central Bank Bonk Scam

It is a commonly known fact, that R. Paskaralingam had actively supported LTTE to divide the country during 1980-1990 era. But he is currently working under the Prime Minister as a Financial Adviser,” he claimed.
“Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, is a national leader who rescued the country from the clutches of LTTE. The attempts to arrest him without bail are solely due to the needs of the Diaspora,” the MP concluded.
