Fast Unto Death Campaign by Hambantota Port Workers Called Off

The Magampura Port employees launched a “fast unto death  campaign as from  January 9 demanding that they be recruited by the Ports Authority or that they  compensated sufficiently. Eleven employees, including a female employee, had launched the protest, which had continued until today (19). Last Thursday (11), three employees, who were staging the fast-unto-death, were hospitalised.
Followed by a successful negotiation with the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), showing green light to their demands,  Hambantota port workers have decided to call off their “fast unto death” campaign, a short while ago.
