Former SL Russia Ambassador Claims He Was Released by Dubai Authorities.

Former Srilanka’s Ambassador for Russia UdayangaWeeratunga, who was a suspect in the MiG plane purchase deal was detained and questioned by Dubai Authorities during last two days.
Today (8), Udayanga appeared in his Facebook  account and claimed that the Dubai Authorities / Interpol after verifying facts released him as he has not been accused internationally or issued with Interpol red notice. What was issued by the Srilanka court was a blue notice. Under which only the identity of the person, his location and his activities can be investigated and reported, but no arrest can be made. Hence, he was released. Dubai authorities / Interpol are not like the bending Srilanka police and Srilankan press carried news items stating that he was detained and to be deported to Srilanka.He dismissed it as false news. As Srilanka is waiting to take political revenge on him, he won’t return to Srilanka for the time being, he concluded.
When Police Spokesman RuwanGunasekera was asked about his release in Dubai, he said that he didn’t knowanything about it. He said already a Srilankanteam has gone to Dubai and another team is ready to take a flight to Dubai to get his repatriation to Srilanka, he said.
