Bangaladesh Ex-PM Khaleda Zia Sentenced to 5 Years Imprisonment

Ex-PM cum Opposition leader of Bangladesh was accused of misusing international funds donated to a charitable   children’s trust. She denied charges and said thatcharges made against her were politically motivated.

However, Bangladesh Court after the trial sentenced her to 5 years imprisonment, which made her disqualified to contest the election to be held this year. When the verdict was delivered in a court in Dhaka, police used tear gas to disperse thousands of her supporters gathered near the court.
