Construction of Kandy Expressway, Tenders Called-Kiriella

Minister Lakshman Kiriella speaking to media in Kandy said a group, who failed to obtain the tender are now spreading false rumours regarding discrepancies in the tender process in connection with the Kandy Expressway.

The Minister said the Colombo – Matara Highway was constructed without calling for tenders during the previous tenure of the United People’s Freedom Alliance led government.

He said former President MP Mahinda Rajapaksa made arbitrary decisions, but unlike it the present government followed the tender process.

Minister Kiriella said one contractor obtained the tender while some contractors failed to do so when the tenders were called for the highway.

 Those who failed to obtain the tender made false statements to media.
