Tense Situation Erupted In Maskeliya During Voting To Elect Chairman

During the vote to elect the Chairman of Maskeliya Pradeshiya Sabah, a tense situation has erupted. Police riot squad has been called in to control the situation.

As a female councillor of the United National Party has not attended the inaugural session today (Mar. 28), and the UNP is accusing that she had been influenced by the Ceylon Workers’ Congress not to attend the session, trouble erupted followed by heated argument between UNP and CWC councillors.
