Danai Gurira in talks for fourth “Kong” and “Trek”

Danai Gurira (“The Walking Dead,” “Black Panther”) is reportedly in early talks for Adam Wingard’s “Godzilla vs. Kong” film at Legendary. Wingard (“You’re Next,” “The Guest”) helms the film which aims to begin filming later this year ahead of a May 22nd 2020 release.

If she signs on she would join “Stranger Things” actress Millie Bobby Brown and “Deadpool 2” co-star Julian Dennison in the film which will follow on directly from Michael Dougherty’s “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” opening next year.

Gurira is also reportedly circling another high-profile project, the fourth Abrams-era “Star Trek” film in the works at Paramount Pictures. S.J. Clarkson helms the film from a script Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, the latter also penned “Godzilla vs. Kong”.

The next ‘Trek’ will see Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk as he encountering his father in a time travel incident, with Chris Hemsworth set to reprise his role from the 2009 reboot. That film doesn’t have a set date as yet, and Gurira’s other filming commitments may prevent her from taking both projects.
