SLPP wins all 17 divisions in Elpitiya Election

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has secured the victory of all 17 divisions of the Pradeshiya Sabha Election in Elpitiya.

The total number of overall votes obtained by the SLPP is 23,372, while the United National Party (UNP) has secured 7 seats obtaining 10,113 votes.

The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) secured 3 seats obtaining 5,273 votes, while the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) secured 2 seats obtaining 2,435 votes.

Voting for the Pradeshiya Sabha Election in Elpitiya commenced at 7.00 this morning (11).

Forty-seven polling centres were facilitated to cast votes until 4.00 this evening, and 53,384 individuals are eligible to cast their ballots.

Five parties represented by 155 candidates are contesting the Election, with the election being conducted to elect 28 members, with 17 individuals to be selected for 17 divisions and 11 others to be elected from a second list.
