In Parliament yesterday, Anurakumara Dissanayake raised the issue of govt grant of Rs 1,800 given to the Thondaman Foundation at the rate of Rs 200 million for last 9 years. What happened to these grant? Up country poor people are suffering. Whether this grant is utilized for the benefit of upcountry people to uplift their living standard need to be examined.
Out of this gran,t one woman brought from India was deployed and paid Rs350,000 per month. Other workers working in the Foundation are party workers. While their people are suffering leaders enjoyed posh live .
I don’t know whether Thondaman Foundation is a Government Board or not. If so, it should be examined by the COPE Committee, he said.
