Stay order Extended By Supreme Court

The Supreme Court yesterday extended the stay order, through a divided ruling, on the Appeal Court verdict which disqualified JO and SLFP Galle District MP Geetha Kumarasinghe from functioning as a Member of Parliament.

Two Justices of the Supreme Court decided to temporarily extend the stay order on the Appeal Court verdict, while one SC Justice ruled against the order issued by the Court of Appeal.

The stay order was issued until the final determination of the appeal which was scheduled for 25^th September 2017.
