While inaugurating a water supply and drainage project in the north eastern region of Mannar yesterday (8), Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe assured that a new constitution will be introduced. He said, we have received a mandate for the new Constitution. The work will go ahead but foremost place for Buddhism in the new constitution will also be ensured, he said. Constitution making is only at the proposal stage right now. The process is open for proposals from anyone.
However, no finality has been reached on the form of the new Constitution and he will discuss the draft with the monks.
