The 2017 GCE Ordinary Level Examination, which commenced on the 12 th concludes today. The O/Level Exam was conducted at 5,116 examination centres while 688,578 candidates sat for the exam.
The Criminal Investigations Department is currently conducting investigations into two students found using mobile phones to answer O/Level Exam mathematics paper. These incidents were reported from schools in Anuradhapura and Colombo.
A student of a school in Anuradhapura had taken pictures of the question paper and sent it to a friend through Viber and Imo. Initial investigations revealed the answers to the questions were sent back to the student. A temporary examination ban was imposed on the student. Investigations are being conducted into another incident of a private candidate sitting the O/Level Exam also using a mobile phone at a reputed school in Colombo.
