President Stops Re – Export of Tea & Pepper After February 10

The President Maithripala Srisena, while addressing a  UPFA rally held in Badulla yesterday said, that farmers were losing income and the country’s image was getting tarnished as exporters importing substandard tea and pepper into the country and then mixing the same with our standard local produce and re- export it.

Hence, he has ordered to spot re-export of tea and pepper as from February 2018, he concluded.
