Arrest of Navy officers connected with abductions Imminent
When the case of abduction of 11 students was taken up for trial before the Colombo Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage on 12.01.2016, Police officer Nissantha De Silva of the intelligence unit said that relevant papers had been submitted to the Attorney General for advise. On receipt of advice from Attorney General ,suspects will be arrested .Van used for abductions has already been captured . Further in his evidence he said, that investigation is been carried out to find out whether abduction took place with the knowledge of Navy higher ups and Navy Commander.Defence council pointed out that submission of regular reports have become the order of the day and no arrest have been made .
Magistrate ordered the Police to obtain AG’s Advised as early as possible and act accordingly .The case will be taken for trial on 09.03.2016.
