Senior DIG SM Wickramasinghe Appointed As Acting IGP

Former IGP N.K. Illangakone retired from service yesterday. President has recommended three Senior DIGs name to the constitutional Council to select one and recommend appointment to the post of IGP. They include Senior DIGs SM Wickramasinghe, Pujuth Jayasundera and Chandana Wickremaratne. The Constitutional Council is yet to make the final decision on the appointment.

In the meantime, President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed Senior DIG S .M Wickremesinghe as the acting IGP.
