Remove Ammunition Dump From Residential Areas – JVP

JVP had a press conference at its head office at Pelawatti yesterday. JVP alleged that the Government which give priority to politician’s security is least bothered about public security.
Cause for the ammunition dump blast not yet been established. Salawa Army Camp should not had been established. But it was established in the year 1994, despite protest by the then ministers and people’s representative of this area Mr. Indika Gunawardana and the people of this area. We come to know that even Panagoda ammunition were kept in Salawa Army Camp. In close proximity, there is a village called Naigala established to accommodate disabled soldiers, a hospital and people residences are there. They maintained a massive ammunition dump in this Salawa Army Camp. At least they should learn a lesson from this incident , JVP said.
In the meantime western province commanding officer Major General Sudande  Ranasinghe said that the safety  of all ammunition dumps in the island is being reviewed.
