Gampaha Magistrate Issued Restrictions to Joint Opposition Pada Yathra

Gampaha Magistrate ,Ms. Kavindaa Nanayakkara has ordered the Joint Opposition’s  ‘Pada Yathra’ to march through the city on the left side of the Kandy-Colombo main road from Kalagedihena to Kirilliwala, so as not to inconvenience the public.
The Magistrate said the Assistant Superintendent of Police has the authority to arrest any individual violating this directive.
The judge gave the directive when the police told the court that there are three main events scheduled in the Gampaha city tomorrow and it is likely to disrupt law and order.
The JO’s Pada Yathra is expected to walk through the city tomorrow while a United National Party membership drive, a Sri Lanka Freedom Party restructuring program and a commemoration of the Rathupaswala clash are also scheduled to take place on the same day.
The Police had requested the court to order all these events to be cancelled, but the magistrate instructed the police to arrest anyone breaking the law and disrupting peace.
