Nooraisolai Tsunami 500 Houses to be Handed over to Beneficiaries Immediately – President

Followed by  Tsunami strike on 26^th December 2004 , then Minister of housing Ferial  Asraf negotiated  with the Saudi Arabian Government  to build 500 houses at  the cost of 1000 million for  Tsunami affected people .These houses  built and named as ‘’ Tsunami King Hussein Housing Scheme ‘’  were left without issuing to beneficiaries for a long time . There was a court case filed by the Sihala Urimaya , which was part of the Government then.

Supreme Court at that time gave its verdict ,  that should be distributed  among different ethnic groups according to their percentage.  Despite Supreme Court decision houses remained  not distributed for a long time. Civil organizations, press and electronic media pointed out this in the recent past. Now , it has been brought to the notice of the President, who has ordered Ampara GA to distribute these houses in accordance with the Supreme Court  decision.

Ampara GA , P. Wanasinghe said , that these 500  houses including schools , hospitals, and mosques will be distributed among beneficiaries before 31^st December 2016.
