Garbage Dump Caused Accident in Galle

Garbage dumped on the sides of the Mapalagama Road in Galle, slipped into the road.  When the security  forces jeep passing over this slipped garbage skidded and rammed into a three-wheeler caused an accident early this morning.

A motorcycle following the jeep closely was also affected by the accident. The injured were taken hospital.

Residents claim the Bope-Poddala pradeshiya sabha is to blame for the incident as they fail to remove the garbage accumulating on the Mapalagama Road.

D. G. Banduala, Secretary of the Bope-Poddala pradeshiya sabha however claims they are doing all they can: “We have only three vehicles to remove garbage with,” he said.

 “We have sent a separate vehicle today to especially pick up the garbage from the Mapalagama Road after the accident,” he added.
