A Special Meeting Between Mahina & Chief Ministers

A special meeting is due to take place at 8am today(22) between former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Chief Ministers of the Provincial Councils governed by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
Accordingly, the Chief Ministers of the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, North-western, Uva, North-central and Central Provincial Councils are expected to attend this meeting.
This meeting was ratified by President Maithripala Sirisena.
The Western Province Chief Minister Isura Devapriya said the Chief Ministers are expected to push for unity within the SLFP at the meeting and will likely urge the former President to remain in the SLFP and to contest the upcoming Provincial Council elections as one team.
However, addressing the media yesterday, the Joint Opposition stated that this meeting may produce positive as well as negative results.
