Delimitation of LG Areas Will be Gazetted at The End of January 2017

The delimitation report was submitted to the Minister of Local Government and Provincial Council Faizer Mustapha. The errors in the report of the committee which was appointed to inquire the delimitation process are being corrected.

The Local Government Act will be amended in accordance with the  recommendation  made by the chairman of the elections commission.

The bill has already been sent to the Attorney Generals Department.

Secretary to the Ministry of Local government and provincial councils Kamal Padmasiri said,  that  he hoped  to publish the gazette by 31st of January 2017.
