Gotabaya Gone to Mahanayaka Theras to Complain about his Arrest

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksha’s brother cum former defence secretary went to Kandy yesterday (7) to complain Mahanaya Theras about his arrest. He met Mahanayaka Theras and informed them, that he learnt from SLFP members that he will be arrested within one month. This arrest attempt was told by Minister Mahinda Amaraweera to those SLFP members, who conveyed it to him. Hence, he lost no time, but rushed to Mahanayaka Theras to air his grievances. He had a detailed talk with Asgiriya Chapter Mahanayaka Varakagoda Sri Gnanaratne Thera.

After the meeting with Mahanayaka Theras, he addressed the press. During the press briefing he said, Rajapakshas didn’t rob the country, but they saved the country risking their lives. They could only accuse him of destroying the LTTE. If they want to send me to jail for it, I have no objection. In answering to a question by journalist on war crimes by army, he said that the fight against the LTTE was done by previous governments too, but they are the one, who finished it. Hence, all those people too should be blamed.

After the planned arrest episode went viral in electronic media, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera denied telling anyone about possible arrest of Gotabaya Rajapakshe.
