Ship with body diverted to Colombo Port

The Commercial Ship where an Indian national reportedly committed suicide when it was floating in Sri Lankan waters was asked to embark at Colombo Port for postmortem examination, police said.

Police said after the dead body of the Shipping Line’s employee was found, the Ship’s authorities had requested Sri Lankan police to launch investigations in to the death that suspect t be suicide.

“The Commercial Ship had been floating towards Fujairah from China and the body had been found in the sea off Galle,” police said.

But, the Coroner had denied entry to the ship for postmortem examination and therefore, the Galle Port Police had informed the Shipping Line authority to travel towards the Colombo Port.
