Education Minister Proposed A Special Method For Student Identification

Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has proposed a special method for student identification, where every student will been assigned a number with a Quick Response code verified by a fingerprint to be adhered to by all schoolstudents when they are enrolled in government schools.

The introduction of the Unique Student Code for students who enter the school, along with a Fingerprint Identification and a QR Code. It was also proposed to use this number at school level examinations.

Ministry of Education said, this new identification system, will make it possible to observe the achievements of students at the Grade Five Scholarship Examination, GCE O/L and A/L Examinations. It would also effectively reduce the number of examination frauds.
