University Non Academic Staff Poised to Strike
Non academic staff of the Universities has informed the Chairman of the University Grand Commission that they will go on 48 hour strike starting from midnight today (5) and ending on midnight 7th February.
The strike launched as from 27th July 2016 was brought to end following an agreement reached by them with the Secretary to the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways. According to the agreement the monthly incentive (MCA) would be increased step by step and bring it to 100 percent in the year 2021. As the authorities have failed to grant increase as agreed upon in the year 2018 and other demands made by them through the letters dated 2nd January 2018 and 22nd January 2018 have not been fulfilled, they have decided to go on strike.
